Campus Outreach - Reaching the Next Generation ... Together

Campus OutreachMost of us have learned the importance of a good partner. Whether it’s a partner on a project, a partner in a business venture or a partner in marriage, having the right support can make all the difference in both the enjoyment of the flight and the ability to arrive at the correct destination. The Scriptures provide us with numerous examples that emphasize the value of working together to carry out a task. There’s Moses and Aaron. David and Jonathan. Paul and Barnabus. And, there’s God and us.

Yes, God Himself invites us to partner with Him to carry out His redemptive work in the world. In 2 Corinthians 6, Paul describes this unlikely partnership when he says, “Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.” The Greek word that Paul uses here is synergeo. This is where we derive the English word synergy. What a humbling privilege it is that God’s plan for reaching the world is for us to be co-laborers together, with Him. In addition to this vertical partnership we experience with God, we are also called into a horizontal one with other members of the body of Christ.

Trinity has invited Campus Outreach to partner together, as we co-labor to transform the city and region by the love of God. We couldn’t be more thrilled to labor together with you as we aim to build laborers on the college campus. My wife, Jamie, and I have already been so encouraged by the numerous ways our family was welcomed to Lakeland. You cleaned our home, painted walls, provided meals, mowed our yard and watched our kids. This greatly alleviated some of the burden that comes with moving a young family more than 600 miles. So to all who served our family, THANK YOU!

In the coming weeks and months, 12 members of our team will pack up their belongings and move to Lakeland or Tampa to begin ministering to college students. Overall, we feel equipped with a good plan for this process. But, we would love to let you all know of a few specific ways that you can partner in the transition:

  1. Housing. Each member of our team has a plan for long-term housing. But, until everyone arrives, it may be necessary to find temporary housing. Could that be you?
  1. Prayer. Our staff is in the process of putting together a prayer team and financial partners. Would you pray that the Lord would provide all of the funds needed for our team to begin ministering this Fall 2018? Would you also pray for open doors at FSC, SEU and USF?
  1. Fellowship. I’d invite you to look for opportunities to connect and engage with our Campus Outreach team. We have a fun and lively team who are eager to get to know you.

If you are interested in helping in any of the ways listed above, or have creative ideas for partnering with us, please click here, and I will follow up with you accordingly.
